What a YouTube guitar tab provides

Notes on the fretboard: Tablature shows a string and fret, so you can find a practical note position without first reading a staff.
Synchronized with the recording: The tab stays connected to playback of the selected video, making short phrases easier to repeat in musical context.
An estimate from real sound: The model listens to the available instrumental mix and looks for likely guitar notes. Treat the result as a working reference.
No invented result: If analysis fails or a recording is unavailable, we show an error or limitation instead of presenting a made-up tab.

How it works

1. Find a video: Type a song, artist, or recording title into the global search.
2. Open Tab: Choose a result or an analyzed song. The player opens directly in guitar tablature view.
3. Listen and verify: Compare the string numbers with the recording and adjust the fingering for the tuning, position, and your instrument.

Tabs as a practical map of a guitar melody

What you get

A guitar tab turns heard notes into a simple fretboard map. Six horizontal lines represent the strings and numbers mark the frets. This is useful when you want to find a riff, melody, or individual notes in a song from YouTube.

Akordify works with the specific recording you search for. When a tab is available, playback helps connect the notation to the song timeline. You can pause, repeat a short passage, and compare the estimate with your ear.

An estimate is not the original notation

An audio-generated tab is not automatically the performer's official transcription. AI estimates notes from an instrumental mix, where drums, other instruments, vocals, effects, or multiple guitars may sound together. The result can therefore differ from the original performance, published notation, or another tab.

A practical way to start

First check the recording's tuning and tempo, then play a few short passages. Use the estimate as a starting point for listening, not as a promise of every performance nuance. For more musical context, combine the tab with the song's chords.

Tabs, chord diagrams, and staff notation

Tablature: Shows which string and fret to play for a note. It is practical for melodies and riffs, but does not always describe every rhythmic or expressive detail.
Chord diagrams: Show a chord shape and its name at a position. They help with accompaniment and rhythm playing, not with writing every melody note.
Staff notation: Records pitch and rhythm with notes. It works across instruments, but requires reading skills and does not directly prescribe guitar fingering.

Important limitations

AI estimates notes from an instrumental mix and may not separate every layer of a recording.
It may not recover the original performance, exact tuning, capo, doubled guitars, or ornaments.
Availability is evaluated per video. Some recordings may be unavailable or unsupported.
The current contract covers six-string guitar. When analysis fails, we show an error rather than a fabricated tab.

Are YouTube tabs exact transcriptions?

Not necessarily. They are note estimates from the instrumental mix of a specific recording. They can differ from the original performance, official notation, or another tab, so compare the result with the audio.

Why is a tab unavailable for some videos?

Analysis depends on access to the specific recording and whether its guitar notes can be estimated reliably. If the video is unavailable or analysis fails, we show a limitation instead of inventing an answer.

Is the tab for any guitar?

The current view is for six-string guitar. Check tuning and comfortable fret positions against your recording and instrument because the estimate may not know every adjustment made by the original player.

What is the difference between tabs and chords?

A tab shows individual notes with strings and frets. A chord diagram shows a shape made from several notes played together. Chords suit accompaniment, while tabs help with a melody or riff.

Is using tabs free?
