How to choose a manageable song
Look first for two to four chord shapes you know and slow, regular changes. Chord count alone does not determine difficulty: the recording, tempo, rhythm and speed of the changes also matter.
A practical way to practise
- Practise pairs of chord changes without rhythm and check that the required strings sound cleanly.
- Loop a short section, slow it down and use one simple strum on each beat.
- Add the original rhythm and longer sections only after the changes feel steady.
